Every hull by its real name
The planes went first. Now the rest of the war follows them: every warship on the Brick Sea and every vehicle on the Brick Steppe drops its nickname and answers to the real thing. The Fletcher runs the flanks, the Iowa holds the centre, and an M1 Abrams waits where the oaks end.
The fleet
Every ship you crew was already modeled on a real warship, from her funnels to her turret layout. Now the hangar card tells you which one:
- Fletcher — the destroyer, the Tachi that was. The workhorse of the Pacific: lean, fast, five-inch guns and the torpedo tubes amidships that make a battleship's captain nervous.
- County — the cruiser, once the Bastion. A Royal Navy heavy cruiser, tall-sided, with three thin funnels and twin eight-inch turrets fore and aft.
- Iowa — the battleship, once the Dreadnought. Three triple turrets of sixteen-inch guns on the fastest battleship hull ever built, and still the slowest thing in your fleet.
- Des Moines — the premium heavy cruiser you earn by sinking 40 ships, once the Tempest. Her autoloading eight-inch turrets still throw the fastest sustained fire on the Brick Sea.
- Osa — the missile boat of the jets era, once the Hornet. Four ship-killers in boxes bigger than her bridge.
The motor pool
On the Brick Steppe the four rides are the vehicles their models always were:
- M1 Abrams — the main battle tank, once the Paladin. The stabilized 120 mm and the front plate almost nothing gets through. It anvils the line.
- M2 Bradley — the infantry fighting vehicle, once the Warden. The 25 mm chews up light armor and the wire-guided missile on its flank cracks the heavies.
- Sd.Kfz. 7/1 — the quad-20 flak half-track, once the Whirlwind. Four barrels of Flakvierling on an eight-ton half-track, and the reason enemy strike planes don't get to strafe your team for free.
- M151 MUTT — the gun jeep, once the Jackal. A 106 mm recoilless rifle on the fastest thing on the field. Halt, fire, and get gone.
And from the cockpit, the armored columns you strafe and bomb in the air war are real too: an M4A3 Sherman leading, an Sd.Kfz. 7/1 throwing flak up at you, and an M8 Greyhound scouting ahead.
Nothing else changed
Same guns, same armor, same speeds. Only the names on the hangar cards and in the kill feed are new. Your career sinkings, your unlocked Des Moines and your favourite ride are all where you left them. Crimson and Cobalt still crew the same hulls, and the fight still comes down to who angles their armor and who leads their shot.
